How a Hard-Working Water Treatment Plant Runs Leaner and Greener with Energy Storage
Aiming to control energy costs and meet its sustainability objectives, the City of Monterey Park’s Water Division looked to solar PV to supply some of the electricity for its pumps and groundwater treatment systems. But it also needed energy storage to mitigate its heavy demand charges. Confident that a GridSynergy® solution would work with any solar PV system it chose, the city opted to deploy energy storage first. ENGIE Storage designed, installed, and commissioned the City’s 250 kW / 500 kWh system, which intelligently accommodates variable solar output, reducing demand charges and optimally supplying the treatment plant’s energy needs.
