Green Charge Networks, Santa Monica’s Office of Environment and Sustainability, and Kia Motors will be in Santa Monica on Monday, April 20th celebrating the introduction of the Shore Hotel’s energy storage and EV charging stations. The Shore is the first hotel in the U.S. to install an energy storage system coupled with fast DC EV charging.
Date: April 20th, 2015
Time: 10 AM
Location: 1515 Ocean Ave., Santa Monica, CA 90401
The ocean front hotel provides the perfect setting as attendees will see a live demonstration featuring the new Kia Soul EV, DC charging station and Green Charge’s intelligent energy storage system. The eco-chic Shore Hotel is a leader in sustainability among Santa Monica’s luxury hotels and the only newly-built Gold LEED-certified hotel. Santa Monica’s Office of the Environment & Sustainability recently awarded the Shore the SQA Grand Prize, given to businesses that make significant achievements in the categories of sustainable economic development, social responsibility and stewardship of the environment.
The energy storage system (pictured left) and fast DC charger complement each other’s functions, reduce costs and build on the Shore’s mission of sustainable operations. Serving as a premium amenity, the level-3 fast DC charger will allow guests to quickly charge electric vehicles up to 4X faster than an average EV charger (level-2). The energy storage system time shifts spikes in demand caused by the EV charger and other equipment used throughout the hotel (HVAC systems, lighting, appliances, etc.). Together, these systems will ensure a high standard of comfort and convenience for guests, lower operating costs, and reduce strain on the electrical grid.
